Progression in Development (Learning on the Job)

s0306128

In terms of client practise so far, during the past six weeks I have worked on three projects that have included both working as an on set hand and videographer, during each stage I have been able to develop in a range of categories which has helped me develop my professionalism in the context of my future job role.

I have been looking to specifically understand and identify and harness my skills as one man band videographer, according to Yellow Cat, the role of a single band videographer

" …owns all their own shooting equipment, and will transport it themself to the shoot location. They function as a solo production crew, shooting and editing all their own footage for paid gigs such as weddings, music videos, adverts and short films." (What does a Freelance Videographer do? - Yellow Cat Recruitment, n.d)

Consequently, as in practise videographer I have been working on learning how to adapt my professional approach and learning of how a videographer needs to be aware of the nature of how a shot is composed, moreover I have been considering how my shot prep on recent projects are telling affective stories and how movement can be necessary and when it isn't necessarily warranted.

In evaluation of my work during production of Three Day Millionaire, I was involved in ensuring the function of set continuity and decoration of different sets so they would match up during different takes at a variety of different location's, for scene's I found it affective to learn how sometimes decoration of certain locations can under value the action of the scene, for example a scene may be set in a warehouse, and be very white and may only have a filling cabinet, by consequence this reduces the characters status as making them look lazy and slightly underwhelming to the value of the character's presence.

Consequently, I would take first stock of the location, how does it fit to the narrative of the story I want to tell, contextually does it fit the theme and style so artistically and as viewer I want to believe that the visual output of I am seeing through the scene is relative to the period and context of narrative.

I feel that taking stock of this, I would act up engagement understanding the relative notice of if the environment works, understanding how my audience will interact and engage and if visually they could pick up or understand what I am trying to tell, I would achieve this by using research into the market, and using similar styles a valued people with the same style and interest as board for engaging how I would go about creating work.

This could involve client feedback in the forum of a written feedback, visual representation feedback, if the audience engage practically i.e. does interest in clients work go up via viewership or do they start to see increased subscription to their market presence, henceforth I feel that by understanding the requirements more clearly, I begin to understand and develop creative understandings of how my audience will react and creatively expand in creating a higher end of quality work that meets their specific requirements through client engagement.
